Anatolians can protect ANY livestock.  The are simply the best Livestock Guardian Dogs available.  We have found they are excellent family guardians as well.  We match our dogs based on their personalities, on which ones go to families.  NOT JUST ANY family can have these dogs, BUT, with the right training, you'll have the best dog you've ever had.  They have excellent health, long life expectancy, especially for their size, and training is almost not needed because guarding livestock is in their blood.  You definitely need high quality fencing, because they think they own the world, but we've seen people keep them in even with underground "invisible fence" type scenarios.  Generally, they want to stay near their "family", meaning whatever you have the guard.  We recommend getting an Anatolian Sheppard that has been trained specifically to guard what you are wanting.  We have sheep, cattle, chickens, ducks, and horses on our farm, so our Anatolians are used to guarding almost anything.  We also have an Anatolian our our families full time guardian, so our dogs are great with people, other dogs, and kids.  If you are getting an Anatolian Sheppard to be a Livestock Guardian, the best way to train, is have them in with older dogs, teaching them, so we recommend waiting until the Anatolian puppy is 16 weeks old because you'll have a trained dog, rather than a "baby" that doesn't know what to do.  If you already have anatolians, or if you are looking for a family Guardian / companion then getting an 8 week old puppy is perfect.
